Tweet A mooring system is made up of a mooring line, anchor and connectors, and is used for station keeping of a ship or floating platform in all water depths. A mooring line connects an anchor on the seafloor to a floating structure. Grouted Screw Mooring Source: Environmental factors – wind, waves and currents – determine which materials make up the mooring system. Chain is the most common choice for permanent moorings in shallow water up o m, whereas steel wire rope is lighter weight and has a higher elasticity than chain, which is a better choice in water depths greater than m.
However, synthetic fiber rope is the lightest weight of all three. Configurations include all chain, chain and wire rope conventional mooring line to 2, m , chain and synthetic fiber rope, and chain, wire rope and synthetic fiber rope combinations are used in ultra-deepwater greater than 2, m.

How to Sharpen a Hook How to sharpen a hook There’s an essential product that every fly fisher should carry but almost no one does. I know because I’m always checking with my fishing buddies. This product will guarantee that you hook more fish that take your fly, and land more of the fish that you do hook. Hooks are pretty sharp when they leave the hook factory, but they get knocked around in your fly box, they pick up minute amounts of rust look at some of the flies in your box with a hand lens , and they get nicked on rocks all the time.
There is a huge difference between a hook that is sorta sharp and a hook that is really sharp—a really sharp hook is so sticky that many fish hook themselves, yet few people realize it because so few sharpen the hooks on their flies. It must have been put away wet. Notice how rusty the hook point has gotten. Draw the fly with the hook point forward across the hone.
Take a few strokes on each side of the point as well as the bottom. The point is now shiny and sharp. Draw it across your thumbnail to test it—if it sticks your fly is now ready to fish. Draw a hook sharpener against the point of your hook a few times parallel to the shank on the bottom, and then take a couple of quick strokes to each side of the hook.
Check it by drawing the fly across your thumbnail at a degree angle.
Offshore Drilling Basics
We present technical review of robotics used in offshore oil and gas industry. Giant oil fields are declining in their production worldwide and this situation is creating need for search of new conventional and non-conventional fossil reserves. With steep depletion of major onshore and shallow-water-offshore oil fields new search of fossil fuel is moving towards deep-water and ultra-deep water offshore fields.
Obviously new reserves are located in extreme, hostile and hard-to-reach environmental conditions. Exploration, development and production of oil from such difficult offshore fields have many serious challenges to health, safety and environment HSE therefore, require sophisticated technological innovations to support increasing energy demand. Biggest oil spill accidents in explosion of Deepwater Horizon offshore oil platform are burning example of such challenges which human society cannot risk to repeat.

Ballina As northern New South Wales residents continue to debate the best way to deal with shark attacks in the region, we take a look at the pros and cons of the most popular options available to protect people from ocean predators. Nets Struggling to get your head around the shark situation on the north coast of New South Wales? Check out our guide. The New South Wales Government believes shark nets are worth trialling and plans to install shark nets in a trial off the north coast before the end of the year.
Statistics support their efficacy, with one fatality at a netted beach between Newcastle and Wollongong in the past 70 years and an overall drop in shark interactions with humans since nets were installed around Sydney and Queensland. Nets float above the sea floor and are placed in sections, so do not provide an enclosed area or barrier between people and sharks.
There will be bycatch: There is also the financial cost of installation and personnel to monitor the nets for bycatch. Culling Shark culling is a term used to describe the blatant killing of sharks and is also used by some to describe the use of traditional drumlines. Supporters argue fewer sharks equal fewer attacks. You would have to kill a lot of sharks to create the level of depletion needed to result in a measurable drop in the risk to humans”.

How Trump’s Lawyer Placed A Big Casino Bet That Left Dozens Empty-Handed
Share on Facebook Share on Twitter The Trump administration unveiled a plan Thursday to open vast new stretches of federal waters to oil and gas drilling, erasing the policies put in place by previous Democratic and Republican administrations and setting up a conflict with state governments fearful about the risk of spills. The term “Brownfield” construction refers to revamping works on existing facilities to enhance production which involve repairs, upgrades, replacement and modification works on existing offshore production facilities and Equipment. Brownfield Construction are generally undertaken when Operators recognize the need to improve Safety aspects, Production, Efficiency and Lifespan of their existing facilities as well as to address maintenance and regulatory compliance issues and update technology.
As a whole Brownfield Construction is a combination and synchronization of new components to the existing facilities and it is essential to understand and appreciate how they are inter-related from physical, process, Hook-up and Commissioning and Operating perspectives. It also involves tie-ins to existing facilities for which disruption to ongoing production cannot be avoided and eventually may lead to shut-down of the existing facility for a certain period of time. The” Greenfield” construction term refers to a new facility either a Wellhead or Process Platform which has been constructed from scratch at NPCC yard and eventually loaded via a cargo barge for further installation offshore.
Unlike “Brownfield Construction, hook-up and commissioning activities related to “Greenfield” construction has no restriction at all in terms of permit to work system application may it be “Hot or Cold” works considering that the facility is yet to be handed over to the client upon mechanical and commissioning completion.

Offshore Drilling Basics Offshore Drilling Basics Diamond Offshore provides offshore contract drilling services to the energy industry around the globe and is a leader in deepwater drilling. This entails running production casing, stimulation work, and zonal isolation to allow the well to flow hydrocarbons. Because we work offshore, often in remote locations, each of our drilling rigs is largely self-sufficient.
When contracted, they come with a full crew and the equipment and supplies needed to carry out the assigned task, be it one short well or multiple years of work.

Guy derrick with nonrotatable mast Stiffleg derrick There are various types of derrick based on how the tower or mast is set up and the use of boom: There are crossbars to connect the two poles, forming a letter “A” shape tower. The tower is ground anchored to provide support. A boom is hinged from the lowest cross bar and extends outward and upward.
The top end of the boom is connected to a pulley system which is connected to the top of the tower. Manipulating the pulley system will allow the boom to change the angle against the tower. There is another pulley system to connect to the top of the boom for load lifting. When an A-frame derrick is used in a vessel, it is called floating A-frame derrick. The basket is constructed from a group of poles to form a polygon.

The Ignition timing in each reprogram is developed to maximize performance with specific fuel octane and boost levels. Programs offered are recreational performance tuned with safe AFR values, and can be further custom tuned Richened to accommodate additional boost levels. However, custom fuel tuning with the Powershot Fuel Tuner can be an add-on or additional upgrade that is suggested for higher performance applications such as C5 Monster Wheel Kits.
Fuel tuning or AFR conditions should always be checked and verified as values will always be slightly different from one engine set up to another. Custom program files can also be performed to accommodate just about any combination of performance level or type of fuel being used.

Finnian Greene Verified Reviewer Original review: My first time trying for you to use it most likely was a disaster! After multiple artificial starts, I was actually ready to fly it in the garbage. I tried one continue thing, and this particular worked: A long acceleration on some of the reel handle and then I had that going in not enough available time.
One improvement where it I would commend is that the most important arms which grip on the club the spool associated with line in locate must be a lot of more sturdy and furthermore stronger. I as with to wind path on my fishing reels rather tightly, to when I tighten up the arms over line winder chances are they bend and misalign the spool out of line.
Thus, you may can’t get noticeably of tension at stake. The work with was perfect. Had been dad fishes when rivers and lakes; off of boats, piers, grass, where ever you look. Top money I exhausted on fishing kit as a gift – especially primarily because I know not a thing of fishing.
